is probably the first inexpensive, comprehensive and scholarly summary of all tithing arguments (pro and con).
Dr. Croteau has written his PHD on deconstructing
tithing and replacing it with sound, teachable and actionable New Covenant post-Calvary theology. This small volume has condensed
and sharpened the key arguments against tithing while removing the bulky historical struggle of his former volume.
I highly recommend a serious and honest reading
of this book. For a more detailed study, consult his first book, You Mean I Don’t Have to Tithe or my book, Should the
Church Teach Tithing?
Earl Kelly, PHD
ON TITHING, FOUR VIEWS, 2011:This is a miracle book. While directly demanding that
tithing be taught in the hidden Position Paper and all church brochures on giving, Broadman itself published this four-view
book. While the pro-tithing view is given by Kenneth Hemphill and Bobby Eklund, the editor and grace-giving
view is presented by Dr. David Croteau of Liberty University. Croteau’s PHD at SEBTS was on the subject.
Friends, I am not opposed to financially supporting
churches and the advancement of God's kingdom. However I am opposed to supporting churches using the false doctrine of NT
tithing instead of better New Covenant freewill offering principles.
I dearly love the Southern Baptist Church and hurt inside to see what is slowly happening to it. It has forgotten its
own history and roots. It is slowly giving more and more control to the upper echelon. For balance, I ask to sit andn
discuss this with tthe stewardship comittee. If I did not love this church I would not bother to publish
what is found on these pages. May love for Christ, His Word, His Church, His children
and lost souls coupled with integrity and selflessness motivate everything we do is my prayer.
